Music is the ultimate form of expression, just ask any who sings or plays a musical instrument – and with Ana Laura, the ukulele is no exception! Although Ana Laura has only been playing her ukulele for about a year, she’s passionate about it and finds time to play every single day. We had the chance to interview Ana Laura for one of our first, Spotlight Featured Ukulele Player interviews.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, Ana Laura
I´m a girl who likes to express herself by the art. I dance, I play the guitar and ukulele and I sing (mostly in the shower and sometimes on instagram). I like to be with my messy hair at the beach and enjoying the small things that life give to us.
Can you share with us some of your current ukulele endeavors?
I play everyday in my house. Sometimes I go out with my rommie to play in the streets of Monterrey, and I play at the church.
What would you say is your life’s motto?
Live your life doing what really makes you feel happy
How long have you been playing the Ukulele? What drew you to the ukulele?
I´ve been playing the ukulele for about a year. ‘Cause I’ve been playing the guitar before and a friend has one ukelele, so she taught me a little bit of how to play it, and I really liked it. So I got one.
What make(s), model(s) and type(s) of ukulele(s) do you play?
I got a stagg ukulele, it’s lovely.
What is your favorite genre that you like to play and why? Have you composed any originals?
I like to play pop songs, because it´s the music that I listen the most, but I play other genders like rock and cumbia.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out on the ukulele?
Just keep practicing and playing all the songs that you want ’cause it´s so easy. And you will look cute with the baby ukulele!
